Repair that wobbly ceiling fan

Ceiling fans are susceptible to a lot of vibration and stress. When this happens, parts of the fan may become loose. Most repairs can be done without removing the ceiling fan from the ceiling. In order to minimize wear and tear of the ceiling, make sure the blades are in balance so the fan does not wobble.

Getting it back in balance

Tools: Proper-height ladder, exact-fit screwdriver

Materials: Microfiber cloth, Doozy polish

1. Start by checking all the hardware that attaches the blades to the arms. Hardware will get loose over time and this many times can be the cause of the wobble.

2. If you still have the wobble after checking the hardware, try switching around two of the blades. This will help the fan get back into balance. Make sure to check if any of the blades are warped or damaged. Replace any blades that have problems.

3. If you have done everything in the previous two steps and the fan still wobbles, turn the power off at the electric panel and remove the fan from the mounting brace. Check the connection between the mounting brace, mounting pole and the fan motor. If anything is loose, tighten it up.

4. Use a microfiber cloth and wipe on Doozy polish. Flip the microfiber cloth and wipe dry. Doozy will help reduce dust build-up. Use Doozy on both sides of the fan blades.
