Replace chipped or loose bathroom tile

Ceramic tile is beautifully durable and does not need a lot of attention. Occasionally, though, ceramic tile can get cracked, loose or simply fall off the wall of your shower/tub. Don't worry, with a few simple steps you can easily replace or repair the problem.

Changing out broken tile

Tools: Grout removal tool, hammer, chisel, tile nipper, wood file, sponge brush

Materials: Replacement tile, tile adhesive, duct tape, Gel Gloss, grout

1. Remove grout from around the broken or cracked tile.

2. Use a hammer and chisel to break apart the tile and carefully remove it.

3. Scrape off the old adhesive from the wall.

4. Make sure the new tile fits, then apply the adhesive to the back of the tile. Hold the tile in place with duct tape. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to dry.

5. After the tile is secured in place, apply new grout into the joints around the tile. Smooth out grout lines using a damp sponge -- not your finger. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove grout film before it dries.

6. When the grout has dried, use a clean towel and the Gel Gloss to give a nice polish to the new tile. Do the entire wall.
