Dripping kitchen faucet is an easy fix

The kitchen faucet gets used constantly throughout the day. You use it for cooking, washing dishes and sometimes washing your hands. With so much use, the kitchen faucet can start to leak. Use these simple steps to replace the ball faucet and stop the drip. Saving water is everybody's responsibility.

Stop leaky faucet

Tools: Channel-type pliers, Allen wrench, Philips screwdriver and utility knife

Materials: Ball-type faucet repair kit, new rotating ball (if needed), masking tape, O-rings, heatproof grease

1. Turn off the water using the shut off valves under the sink or at the main water supply.

2. Remove the faucet handle by releasing the setscrew.

3. The faucet finish scratches easily, so wrap masking tape around the plier teeth and take off the faucet cap.

4. Take out the rotating ball along with the faucet cam and cam washer.

5. Remove the neoprene valve seats and old springs with point of Philips screwdriver.

6. Put in new valve seats and springs, then remove old O-ring and install a new one.

7. Put back the rotating ball, cam and cam washer.

8. Screw faucet cap back on and replace the faucet handle.

9. Turn water back on and try out your leak-free faucet.
