Moen develops easy-to- install bathtub grab bars Bathtubs are accidents waiting to happen. Nearly 1.6 million senior citizens were treated for falls in 2001. Many of those were related to slipping in the bathtub. The two easiest ways to make the bathtub safer are installing non-slip tape on the bottom of the tub and mounting grab bars on the walls. The non-slip tape is available at home center, hardware and plumbing stores. But for many, installing a grab bar is a hassle. Most grab bars have to be attached to the studs behind the wall or they are not safe. In tests, SecureMount anchors held up to 1,500 pounds in 5/8 -inch drywall. The SecureMount can be used with drywall and plaster walls up to 1 1/2 -inches thick.
