A thermal imaging company will figure out where your leak is coming from

Dear Glenn: I have saved a lot of money over the years because of your astute advice. I really need your help on this problem. Approximately five years ago, I had a new roof installed by a very reputable local company. It was a complete job. Since that time, I have had a leak in the back of the house and occasionally in the front. I have had the roofing company out at least 10 times and they have been unable to locate the leak. I believe the roofing company has done everything humanly possible and I am convinced the problem is not with the roof. Within a month of having the roof replaced, I had new windows installed and the two dormers sided with vinyl. I now believe the problem is with the siding or window installation. I have had the window company out at least five times and they are unable to locate the leak.

What I need is someone reliable to investigate the problem and fix it. I have no problem paying for this, but I need to be certain that when they are done, the leak will be fixed. I need someone who is capable of possibly redoing the trim around the windows and redoing the vinyl siding.

Ron, via e-mail

Dear Ron: Well first, it is apparent that you picked better than average contractors. They sure are trying hard. What you need is a thermal imaging company to identify where the water is entering. Thermal Imaging Consultants, (586) 783-8885, will take pictures that you can show the roofing and window companies.
